Easy DIY: Christmas Decorations

We are 12 days away from Christmas and so I think it is time to do a Christmasy blogpost!

While I was decorating my house, I thought it would be a great idea to try to do my own Christmas decorations. If you go to the supermarket or any mall, you’ll probably find pretty and affordable bits and pieces, but why not get creative and do them yourself, right? :)

With that on mind, I went to Walmart and got this affordable set of silver baubles. You can also use old ornaments that you may want to modify. The set contained three different styles of baubles, but I mainly used the plain ones. I thought these would be the easiest to decorate since they are plain, kind of like a white canvas, but you can use whichever one you like! Next, I got a regular liquid glue and glitter of different colors. It has probably been like 10 years since the last time I used glitter, so I felt like a child again when I was choosing which ones to get.

Once I got all the materials, I prepared my working station. You may want to cover the table you’ll be working on with newspaper because the glitter may fall and, trust me, it’s hard to clean it afterwards :P I placed the glitter and stars on a plate. This way it would be easier for me to sprinkle it over the bauble or grab different colors without having to open the plastic bags with my fingers full of glitter.

I didn’t have any designs planed. I just started doing different figures with the glue, then sprinkled the glitter on top of it, and hoped for the best haha. As you can see in the photo below, I drew a line and sprinkle green glitter over it, and also I drew various circles and placed red stars on top. Other designs that I did were: blue stars, two lines of golden and green stars, circles with different colors of glitter mixed together, etc. First I did one side of the bauble, let it dry, and then continued with the other side.

I really had fun doing them :) Although they may not look as professional, I was happy with the results. It’s very easy to do them and takes no time. Additionally, I thought this could be a nice Christmas tradition/activity to do with the whole family.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think of it :)

Black Friday 2015

I always thought Black Friday was a sort of thing only done in the U.S, but little did I know that in many other countries it’s celebrated as well. A few years ago, where I live, the whole idea of Black Friday was adopted. I might be wrong, but I think this is the fourth year malls and stores around the country have been celebrating it. I’ve never been in the U.S for Black Friday, but friends that have been told me it’s pretty intense. This year I decided to go to the mall and take a look around with my main shopping partner, my mom :) I was planning on doing a big post about my shopping spree, but, due to various reasons, I decided to cut back a little and save up some money for Christmas. However, I did find a few bits and pieces :P

My mom and I woke up early to avoid the masses of people and to get a nice parking space. We arrived at 8:45 am (the mall opened at 8 o’clock) and to our surprise the parking lots were almost out of space! We managed to find a spot and off we went inside the mall. The first thing that we wanted to do, as coffee lovers as my mom and I are, was to get a coffee and something to eat. On our way, we stopped by Nine West because we saw a bunch of people in the store so we thought it must have had some pretty descent discounts. My mom was looking for comfortable heels and I was looking for any shoe style to wear to school. Although she didn’t find much, I found these cute ballerina flats. I don’t know if they are nude or yellow, either way I really liked them. They are quite simple, but comfortable to walk with and easy to match with other colors and outfits. I don’t know how much it costs in the U.S, but with the discount, it was $30. What do you think of them??

After many stops along the way, we finally reached the coffee stand. I ordered a cappuccino with some pastries to satisfy my sweet tooth and hungry stomach. I think this is the best part about shopping with my mom, the coffee break. We can spend hours talking and laughing, all while drinking my favorite drink, coffee.

Nearby was the Express store and so we went to check it out once we finished eating. The whole store was with 50% off, which, if you think of it, was a great deal. Inside, everyone was so focused on getting their hands on each clothing item. Just like them, we scouted around the place grabbing what we liked. It’s like the idea of having something half the original price triggers some area in your brain to buy it, but sometimes even 50% off isn’t the best deal. I looked at the prices of the three clothing pieces I had gotten and, by my criteria, they still were a bit pricy. With doubt on my mind, I kept walking around and found the exact same green jacket from Express that I had gotten 3 years ago, but in a store in the U.S. What was it doing there? I’m not the kind of person that if it’s not “in”, I don’t wear it. I still have cloths from when I was in high school (5 years ago) and actually, I had worn that jacket the night before. I guess as a buyer, you are not expecting to spend money on a clothing item that was from 3 years ago, specially if it’s been sold at $100 (with the discount it would have been $50). With even more doubt on my mind, I kept walking only to find a huge line at the paying area. If the circumstance had been different, we would have stood in line and waited patiently, but we decided to leave our stuff and keep on walking around the mall.

A couple of hours later, we were getting ready to leave, but I wanted to go to the Makeup Store and see what they had. I was greeted at the entrance of the store and given a pen. Actually, I wasn’t sure if it was a gift or what, but I kept it :P The new collection of lipsticks were 10% off, the rest were 65% off. A lot of their lip products were either gone or only a couple left. The first one that I got was Sheer from their slim lipsticks range, which is a nice shimmery berry color lipstick, perfect for winter. The slim lipstick range differentiates from the normal lipstick range on it’s intensity. They are a bit less pigmented and more glossy. Next, I found Yarn, a metallic, shimmery, soft orange lipstick that I can see myself wearing on summer (…on any season actually). Both items were $10 each, which, for a high end makeup brand, it was a deal that could not be missed!

After looking at the lipstick section, I went to check this big upside-down umbrella where all the eye products on sale were. Two eyeshadows caught my attention, Golden, which, as it’s name states, is a peachy, rusty, shimmery golden color, and Venice, a shimmery moss green color. Both eyeshadows cost around $10 each, as well. I haven’t tried any of their eye products, so I thought it was a great chance to see what they’re all about.

Finally, happy with having spent time with my mom and doing something different from the usual, we headed home.

I hope you enjoy this post!

Did you go to the mall for Black Friday? Which item that I got did you like the most?

My Top 3 Lipsticks for Winter Review

From left to right: Makeup Store Matt Lipstick in Vamp, Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in Adore, Unkown Lipstick Rouge Lumiere

Something that I look forward to throughout the year is winter time, specially Christmas. Don’t you, too? What I love most about this time of the year is spending it with my family and eating all kinds of delicious food. Another of the many reasons why this season is so special to me, makeup-wise, is because I get to wear all my darker color lipsticks. Thus, I decided to share with you my top 3 lipsticks that I’ve been using so far for autumn and winter.

These past three days I’ve been working on a new video for my channel and, at the same time, on this blogpost. Talk about multitasking and efficiency, right? :P Haha if you’d know me, you would be probably laughing because I can’t multitask. It’s been proven that women have the ability to do so, more than men, but I guess I’m one of the few that can’t. Anyway, for this week’s video, I filmed my first impression of L’Oreal True Match Lumi Highlighter. I tried out three ways you can use the product, according to the instructions on the back part of it’s package, and for each way I did a makeup look. I used the three lipsticks that I’m about to share with you. Therefore, in this post, I included photos of each of the looks that I did for the video, just so you can have a better idea of how they look like.

Makeup Store Matt Lipstick in Vamp:

Walking around the mall the other day, I decided to pop in the Makeup Store, “just to see” what new products they got. I think I was only kidding myself by believing I would just check out the store, because the minute I step in the mall I knew I was going to get myself a new lipstick. This was my second time trying out a lipstick from this brand, and with my previous experience, I was excited to try out another one. I went for Vamp, which I would describe this lipstick’s color as burgundy. I tried it on my arm and the color was just what I wanted, a dark red lipstick. However, once I placed it on my lips, it wasn’t as dark. I guess you can apply more of the product to get more intensity. Nonetheless, I still think it was a great purchase. The lipstick is from their matte range. Although matte lipsticks tend to have a dry finish, this one felt very creamy. The lady that helped me out in the store told me it was made from avocado oil and some other oil that I can’t remember, which helps moisturize your lips. Similar to my other Makeup Store lipsticks, this one is very easy to apply and blend. As for duration, it’s described as long lasting. When I tested it, I spent all afternoon without having to reapply some more. I think that if you are looking for a lipstick from a high end brand, this one is worth the try.

Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in Adore:

Revlon is one of my favorite drugstore brands. I specially love their lip products because they are affordable and they are of a good quality. For my day to day or for a simple makeup look, I think their Colorburst Balm Stain range come in handy. As it’s name says, these are not lipsticks but lip balms. Thus, their color intensity and finish is not the same as a lipstick’s. These Balm Stains have a slight glossy finish which I think make the lips look really nice. Also, it can provide a pretty tint to your lips. Their intensity may not be as strong as a lipstick’s, but for a lip balm, I think they are quite pigmented. Although their shiny finish may fade out with time, their pigmentation lasts longer. A couple of things that I love about this balm stain is it’s minty scent and fresh sensation when applied. It feels as if my lips were getting moisturized due to it’s soft consistency.

Unknown Brand Rouge Lumiere Lipstick:

To end this blogpost with a touch of suspense and mystery, the last lipstick that I’ve been using for wintertime I don’t know of which brand it’s from. The story goes like this: the other day my mom was organizing her makeup and, as she was looking through her lipsticks, she decided to get rid of the ones that she no longer used. Like an older sibling passing down her toys, she gave them to me. I was quite happy with my new acquisitions and started to try them out right away. I found, among my new lipsticks, this raspberry/dark red, shimmery lipstick that had no box, nor it’s package contain any symbols or name of it’s brand. The only clue that I found was the words “Rouge Lumiere”, which I’m guessing it’s the color of the lipstick or the name of the product’s range. I’ve done some search on the internet but I’can find it’s identity and my mom doesn’t remember either, so if you recognize it, please let me know :) This lipstick is really pigmented and intense when applied. It last’s a long, long time. I used it for Halloween and not only it lasted throughout the whole party, but the next day I woke up with my lips still of a reddish color. Of course it was not as intense as when I had first applied it. Also, it has a nice creamy texture that makes your lips feel hydrated and soft. Would be nice to know it’s brand to test other products as I’ve been happy with this one :P

I hope you enjoy this review! Let me know what you think :) Which are the lipsticks that you’ve been using lately?

DIY: How To Get A Healthy Glow For Your Skin

When I was younger, my mom used to tell me that it is important to care for my skin. At first her words would not sink in, but when I got into my teenage years and became more aware of my physical appearance, I found that she was right.

I like to think of my skin as a reflection of what’s going on with myself internally. When I’m stressed out, I get blemishes and break outs on my face. If I’m under the weather, my skin tends to get dull and dried out. With time, I noticed that, as I started to take more care of myself, my skin improved as well. A well nourished skin has an even color throughout, no blemishes, no redness, no under eye darkness. It’s smooth to the touch and it’s hydrated. Sometimes it seems that a healthy skin glows, which is something that most people want to achieve. So, today I wanted to share with you some of my easy tips and tricks that I use to try to maintain a healthy skin throughout all seasons.

Stay Hydrated

As you go through your day, water is lost from your body in various ways. For example, doing physical activity causes you to sweat and increase you breathing rate, making you lose some water in the process. Thus, it is important to replace the amount of water lost throughout the day. Drinking water can be a great form of hydration that can be beneficial not only for your skin, but other organs as well. It can be as simple as that, but not all of the people do it, myself included. Personally, I either end up misplacing my bottle of water or not drinking it at all. To get me to drink more water, I’ve come up with different juices and drinks that are easy to do and delicious to drink :P Here is one of my favorite, which is a refreshing lemonade recipe with a twist.

Lemonade with mint and honey:

The juice of 2 lemons
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of fresh mint leaves
300 ml of water

Blend all of the ingredients together in a blender. Enjoy :D

Nourishing Your Skin

Taking your time to pamper your self is a great way to relax and have a little me-time, but also a great time to spend nourishing your skin. I like to start by exfoliating my face and body. This way I can do an in-depth cleanse and get rid of dead cells, improve my skin tone, and brighten up my skin. I usually use St. Ives Smoothing Apricot Body Wash, which is amazing and smells great! Sometimes, if I run out of this product, I like to make my own exfoliant. Here is my recipe:

Mix:
2 teaspoons of honey
1 teaspoon of sugar
A few drops of either almond oil or coconut oil

After exfoliating my skin, I like to apply a facial cream. Most are rich with vitamins and minerals that help provide the essentials for your skin to absorbe and maintain it’s healthy complexion. During the daytime, I use Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Cream that has an SPF of 30. This product has helped my skin feel softer and smoother. Also, because of both, it’s hydrating action and nutritional input, I think my skin has brighten up. At night, I use a little sample of Kiel’s Ultra Facial Cream that I got after one of my shopping trips. This cream is very soft and incredibly soothing. I think it’s light weight formula is perfect for applying it before going to sleep. I’ve been planing on getting the original size product after I’m done with the sample.

Protecting Your Skin

Last, but not least, I think it’s very important to keep in mind that part of having a healthy skin means protecting it from the sun. Sun rays can be harmful to your skin if exposed for prolonged hours and unprotected. The damages may not even be noticeable at first, but with time you may experience accentuation of your wrinkles and facial lines, patches of different skin tones and colors, freckles, dryness, and can even lead to the formation of tumors.

Nowadays, most makeup products come with sunscreen included. It might range from an SPF of 15 to 30, even more. After applying my moisturizer, I use one of these two products, Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream with an SPF of 30 or Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Sunscreen with an SPF of 70. If you are like me and dislike sunscreens because of their thick consistency and heavy formula, Neutrogena’s sunscreen is for you. This product is very light, to the point of being liquid. It’s absorbed very fast by the skin, leaving it feeling soft as if you hadn’t applied anything. Maybelline’s BB cream is perfect for an everyday makeup look. It provides a light to medium coverage and allows you to have a uniform color throughout your face. It’s soft and easy to blend.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you think :)

Essence Cosmetics Review: I Love Nude Eyeshadow & XXXL Nude Lipgloss

Hello everyone! How’ve you been? I hope your week started in the right way. These couple of days I’ve been trying to study, but to be honest, it has been hard. It’s like a vicious cycle where I find myself avoiding study time, but at the same time get stressed out because I haven’t studied enough. To take a break from this, the other day I went to Essence Cosmetics. I found a couple of new items from their most recent collection and decided to share them with you!

Essence Cosmetics is a makeup brand that I really like because of two things: their price and their quality. High end makeup can be pricey. Not all of the time I can save up money to do some big time shopping. Under such situation, I can relay on Essence Cosmetics. Their products are very affordable, and so far, I haven’t encounter any major issues with them. I’ve tried some of their lip and face products, but not their eye makeup. Thus, in this short trip to their store I got my hands on a few of their eyeshadows and lipsticks.

I Love Nude Eyeshadows in Coffee Bean

The first item that I got was an eyeshadow from their new collection, I Love Nude Eyeshadows. I chose the shade Coffee Bean, which is a dark shimmery brown color. I find that different shades of brown are easier to combine with any makeup. Thus, I always find myself going for such color tones when it comes to eyeshadows. What are your go-to eyeshadow colors? Essence describes this product as a “baked eyeshadow with a satin smooth texture…”. To tell you the truth, I don’t really know what a baked eyeshadow is haha, but I really liked it’s finish. This item is very pigmented and true to it’s advertised color. As I first applied it onto my eyelid, the color was immediately noticeable and dark. It was very easy to blend it upwards onto the crease. I only added a bit more onto the lid just to create more intensity. According to the product’s description, it is long lasting. I couldn’t really test it’s durability out because I only wore it for a short time, but I will have to try it out another occasion. I love this eyeshadow and I think it would be great for a dark makeup look. I’m think more like for a nighttime look :)

XXXL Nude Lipgloss in Soft Almond

I couldn’t resist leaving without trying out a couple of their new lip products. I’ve tried their XXXL Matte Lipgloss in Soft Nude, which is a lovely soft pink lipgloss with a hint of brown undertone. My experience using that lipgloss was quite positive, so basing myself upon that, I decided to try out the new XXXL Nude Lipgloss in Soft Almond. This shade looks like a dark rose pink but once you place it onto the lips, it lightens up a bit. I guess the color that you end up with, once applied, depends on the natural color of your lips. Some girls have pinkish lips, other a bit reddish, and so a lipgloss, since it’s not as pigmented as a lipstick, can change it’s color. Moreover, both, the XXXL Matte Lipgloss and the Nude Lipgloss, are very soft and creamy. I was surprised that the nude version is not sticky at all. It’s consistency is quite nice, not too dense and not too light. Since it has a glossy and shiny finish, I think it makes the lips look feminine and soft. Personally, I think Soft Almond can be used for any occasion, either nighttime or daytime.

Finally, I decided to create a makeup look using both products, just to give you an idea of how they look like and what’s their finish.

Here are the steps to get the look:
  1. To start off with the eye makeup, I like to apply an eye primer first. I used the Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
  2. Using my finger as a brush haha, I dabbed Coffee Bean from the I Love Nude Eyeshadow Collection onto my upper eyelid.
  3. Next, with a fluffy brush I bleed the eyeshadow upwards onto the crease, creating a softer look.
  4. To add more intensity and to darken up the eyes, I applied more of Coffee Bean only onto the lid.
  5. With a liquid eyeliner I did a small cat eye. I used Dior Style Liner in the color black.
  6. On top of the eyeliner that I previously drew, I outlined it with a copper liquid liner. I used Lance Artliner 24H in the shade 021.
  7. Next, I applied L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara in the shade Black.
  8. Finally, because I felt something was missing, I lined my bottom eyelid with Dior Crayon Eyeliner in Black.
  9. After I finished with my eyes and cleaned any fallouts, I applied Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in the shade 125.
  10. Because I wanted a dewy finish, I didn’t apply any powder, only bronzer. I used Smashbox.
  11. Last but not least, I applied XXXL Nude Lipgloss in Soft Almond
Let me know what you think of these products! Have you tried them out? Which is your favorite Essence Cosmetics product?

Here is another review of other Essence Cosmetics products from their new collection :)

Hungry For More

These couple of days I’ve been thinking a lot about my future, so I decided to share some of my thoughts with you. There are times when I wish I could finally reach my goals. I picture myself at the peak of a mountain, looking at the vast sky and thinking to myself “I did it”.  As much as I want to flash-forward into that moment and avoid going through this journey of ups and downs,  and mainly avoid the down parts, sometimes reaching your goal is all about the journey, if that makes sense.

Not so long ago, my oldest brother graduated from his masters degree and during the ceremony a faculty member gave a speech that has gotten stuck in my head ever since. I can’t really rewrite his speech (and kind of regret not filming it haha), but his main idea was that happiness is a lifestyle. Being happy is not a goal, but the journey itself. Everyday that you wake up, you make the choice to be happy. You decided how to face the obstacles in your path, whether it is with a smile on your face, with optimism, or without. He stated that sometimes it might not be up to us how things turn out to be, good or bad, but it is up to us how we react to them. That point of view sort of threw me off balance because I was frustrated and so focused on trying my best and yet not succeeding, that I had shut myself from understanding and accepting that it takes time for things to happen.

There is a saying, which these couple of days I’ve noticed it repeatedly everywhere, in a blog that I read, twitter, and even my mom has told it to me. This saying goes something like this: “fall seven times, get up eight”. What it means is that life may not be simple and easy. There will be times when you may fail, when reaching your goals get hard, but it’s during these moments that you have to swim and keep swimming against the current. As much as I don’t like to listen when my parents tell me this, but life is all about perseverance. When times get hard, when you are not too sure you are going to be able to reach your dreams, remember that you have the choice to either believe in yourself and keep on keeping on, or let your fears and doubts take over. As the graduation speaker stated, life might not be under our control, but we have control over ourselves, of our reaction to what it brings us.

Even though I find myself thinking how much I would love to be “successful” or to have already accomplished my dreams, there is and there will be a time for everything. I guess I’m hungry for more, but just like food, you have to eat slowly, take your time chewing it and enjoy every minute of it. You have to enjoy life, enjoy the journey, every minute of it and not get caught up in the down parts.

Morning Dress Up Event: Makeup and Outfit.

Even though you will probably find me wearing comfy clothes like jeans (or pajamas haha), I think that, once in a while, getting the chance to dress up is fun. Not so long ago, I had a morning event which was a bit formal. To be honest, I tend to be clueless as to what to wear in  which occasion, but as my parents say, it’s best to be overdress than dress-down. Thus, I went for a more dressed up look. I took some photos to show you the complete makeup and outfit :) I hope you enjoy it!

Outfit:

The event took place in the morning, around 9 am. Since it was an early sort of cocktail party, I took it as a chance to wear a short dress. I chose this white dress with black feathers from H&M. The fabric is quite soft and sheer, which I think made it perfect for such event. It’s loose fitted, but stills gives you a nice body silhouette. Another way I thought you could wear this dress is with a belt. This way, since it isn’t skintight, it can help accentuate your curves. Also, a belt would be a nice touch to the look. The dress cost around $30, which I thought it was cheap for what it looked and felt like.

To add a pop of color and fun to the dress, I wore these pretty heels from DKNY. I love that they have bright fluorescent yellow and light blue straps combined with nude ones. A great thing about these heels is it’s height. Their medium height made it easy for me to walk in them without my feet hurting.

Makeup:

For this look, at first I thought on going for something more natural and discrete, but then changed my mind because why not try something out of the usual? In the photos, it looks like I’m wearing a purple eyeshadow, but the truth is that I wasn’t. I don’t know why it ended up looking like that in the picture, maybe the lighting haha.

Steps:

Eyes:

  1. Since this makeup was for a special occasion, I wanted it to stay put for a long time. Thus, I began by applying MAC Prep + Prime Eye Primer in the shade Light. I’ve been using this product for a long time and it hasn’t failed me once. It helps not only by preventing any fallouts, but also by enhancing the eyeshadows pigmentation.
  2. With a fluffy brush I applied eyeshadow #1 (matte light beige eyeshadow) from the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette all over the crease, sweeping the brush from side to side in windshield whipper motion.
  3. Next, with a flat brush I mixed eyeshadows #2 (shimmery pink and shimmery light silver eyeshadows) and placed them onto the upper eyelid. Using a fluffy brush I blended these eyeshadow with the one on the crease to prevent harsh lines.
  4. To darken up this look a bit, I applied eyeshadow #3 (shimmery dark brown eyeshadow) onto the outer half of the lid. With a fluffy brush I blended everything well.
  5. With a small pencil brush, I applied eyeshadow #4 onto the innermost part of the crease to create depth. Again, with the same fluffy brush I blended it well to avoid harsh lines.
  6. I drew a small wing liner with Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner in the color Blackest Black. It was nothing too dramatic because I was trying to make it daytime appropriate.
  7. Finally, to add volume to my eyelashes, I applied MAC Opulash Optimum Black Mascara.

Face:

  1. Before applying my foundation, I cleaned up any eyeshadow fallout.
  2. Next, I applied Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation in the shade 125. This foundation does match my neck’s skin tone, but I think in the photo it looks different.
  3. To tone down any redness, I used The Body Shop Tea Tree Concealer in the shade 02. Usually I place it under my eyes, the middle of my nose, forehead, and cupid’s bow.
  4. Powdering my face helps my makeup last longer, without getting my T zone greasy easily. I use Essence Cosmetics Mattifying Compact Powder in the color Soft Beige.
  5. To add some definition and color to my face, I used L’Oreal Glam Bronze in Blond Harmony under my cheek bones, sides of my nose, and outline of my forehead. This bronzer is very subtle and soft.
  6. Finally, I used Essence Cosmetics Silky Touch Blush in the shade Natural Beauty on the apples of my cheeks.

Lips:

  1. Last but not least, I used Buxom Two of A Kind Lipstick in the shade Hooligan, which is a nice rose pink color. I chose this color because it blended well with the whole makeup look, without overpowering the eyes.

Tell me, what is your go to look for a morning dress up event??

10 Things I Like and 10 Things I Don’t Like Tag

Hello everybody! How are you? This week I decided to post something different, not makeup, fashion, or food related. On Monday, the lovely Kat nominated me to the Love/Hate Tag. I’ve never done a tag before and I thought it would be a fun idea for you to get to know me a bit more. For this tag you have to write about 10 things you like and 10 things you don’t like, which at first I thought it would be easy, but I was wrong haha. Hopefully you enjoy this post!

The Things I Like:

  1. Spending time with my family: If there is something I truly enjoy is spending time with my family. I just feel relaxed and at home with them, if that makes any sense. One of my favorite thing to do with them is cook. Every Sunday, we gather in the kitchen and decide what to eat for lunch. Then, we start preparing the meal. My parents usually are the ones that cook (I would probably burn the house down haha), and I just chat with them or help out doing small things like peeling vegetables haha.
  2. Drinking coffee: My love for coffee started at a young age, when I was 7 years old. I remember my dad and I would go out and drink capuccinos. Both, my mom and my dad, love coffee, so I grew up with that, I guess you could say, habit or custom. I love the smell of recently brewed coffee. It just makes me feel happy haha. Also, coffee can be a great body scrub :P
  3. Traveling: If I could just travel for place to place for my whole life, that would be the perfect job for me. I love getting to know different places and trying new things. I think it’s interesting learning about different cultures and the reason why people are the way they are.
  4. Nature: I love being outside. From time to time I like to spend a little moment just sitting on the grass and staring at the sky. Nature can be so peaceful and relaxing. It reminds me of how much more there is out there, how much more there is to life.
  5. Makeup: Throughout this past year I’ve learnt so much about makeup and beauty, and still I feel there is a lot more to learn. Finding video tutorials and blogs about makeup have kind of ignited a creative spark within myself. I love doing my makeup and trying new products. It has helped me become a more confident person, like more comfortable in my own skin, even though in my day to day I don’t wear that much makeup.
  6. Going to the movies: I don’t know why, but I love going to the movies. It’s the feeling I get that I truly enjoy haha. I love getting popcorn or a hotdog and then just sitting there and having fun. I think it’s a way to forget about everything and just enjoy yourself.
  7. Swimming: Although I love going to the pool, lately I haven’t able to swim as much as I wish I could do so. While I’m at the pool I feel closer to nature and Earth (although that sounded a bit wired as I reread that sentence haha). Also, I love that while you swim, you do sweat because you are working out, but you don’t feel as sweaty, hot, and sticky as you would if you were running for example.
  8. Baking cakes: I love watching the Food Network. When I was little, I would spend hours just watching that channel. Then, I would get hungry and think to myself “I’m going to do this recipe that I’ve just watched”. I would get to the kitchen and attempt to do that mouthwatering cake, or any dessert, and it just wouldn’t be same as the recipe’s haha. Besides that small disappointing part, baking is really fun. It let’s you get creative while eating yummy food.
  9. Reading: While I do like watching tv shows, there is nothing like reading a good book. I love how you can get immerse in a book so much and just read and read without noticing that time has past by and it’s time to go to sleep again. I love that what you write may be interpreted differently by people (hopefully in a good way). Then, you realize that words can touch a person in so many ways.
  10. Singing in the shower/car: One of the things I would have liked to have is a good singing voice. If I had one, I think I would sing all day long. Well, I kind of do sing a lot, but only when no one is there to listen haha. I love singing in the shower or while driving :)

The Things I Don’t Like:

  1. Candy: If I had to choose between candy or chocolate, I would definitely go for the latter one. It’s not that I don’t like candy, I actually do, but I don’t get any candy cravings. If I want a little snack, I would go for a piece of chocolate rather than candy. I think it’s too sweet haha.
  2. Losing stuff: Sometimes while I do things, my mind is in another planet. I tend to forget where I place my stuff. It’s worse when I’m in a hurry so I go crazy trying to retrace my steps and finding the lost item haha.
  3. Coffee flavored chocolate: Although chocolate is one of my favorite food to eat and coffee is one of my favorite drinks, I don’t like coffee flavored chocolate. Have you tried those coffee beans covered with chocolate? Personally, I don’t like the combination because it has a bit of a bitter taste. However, I love mochaccinos!
  4. Walking in high heels: Amongst my group of friends, I’m one of the tallest girls. When we go out, I tend to avoid wearing super high heels, even though I love them, because I don’t want to look like a giant haha. Because of that, I’ve never really practiced walking in them :P Has that happen to you?
  5. Not mastering painting my own nails: I’m all about DIY when it comes to beauty. I love doing my makeup, my hair, I wax myself, and I do my own manicure and pedicure. However, I still haven’t gotten the hung of painting my nails really nice, specially when I’m doing my right hand nails. The first day my nails look messy because I have nail polish all over my fingers, but after I’ve clean them up, it looks descent enough. I guess practice makes perfect :P
  6. Not enough time: Sometimes I feel like 24 hours is not enough. There are so many things I would love to do, but so little time. Maybe it’s the excitement that makes me want to do them now, but I have other projects to finish before. Things will happen at the right time, don’t you think? :)
  7. Not doing enough exercise: I like working out, not because I want to have a super abs or something like that (although, I wouldn’t complain if I had them haha), but because it makes me feel great afterwards. Lately, I haven’t had time to do exercise so I miss that energy boost.
  8. Messing up my winged eyeliner: Sometimes when you feel like you have finally mastered the art of cat eyeliner, it comes the day that you realize that you actually haven’t master it at all haha. Some days I’m happy with my winged eyeline, other days it looks messy, but I guess it’s a matter of practice and practice.
  9. Finishing the Harry Potter books: Call me a geek, but I love the Harry Potter books. I remember a friend of mine and I would go to the midnight book launches to be the first ones to get the books. It was so much fun reading those books and they hold a special place in my heart haha. I wish those books had never ended.
  10. Spiders: I’m afraid of them :P

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and let me know if you want me to keep doing more of these. What are the things you like and don’t like??

Makeup Review: L’Oreal Paris La Lacque and Le Matte Lipsticks

Last post, I wrote about my first impression of two red lipsticks that I had recently gotten. This week, I’ve decided to talk about my experience using two pink lipsticks :P Can you see the color pattern? Next week will be orange lipsticks… Haha I’m kidding.

The pink lipsticks that I chose for this review are both from L’Oreal Paris, which is one of my favorite drugstore makeup brands. As each lipstick’s name states, one is matte, Le Matte, and the other one is shiny, La Lacque. I think that both are pretty shades of pink. Lacque and Roll is a darker fuchsia pink color, while She’s So Matte is a more neutral soft rose pink. Personally, I see myself wearing more often She’s So Matte because it’s a classic neutral shade, which is easier to combine with any makeup look, a darker and heavier makeup or a more discrete and soft one. Also, I think it’s perfect for an everyday wear. However, Lacque and Roll being a vibrant pink, would be perfect for party looks or just fun daytime makeup.

Both products have an elongated, sort of pencil- like shape. At first I thought the shape of the tip wouldn’t be useful for applying the product on the lips, but, after trying it out, I felt it made the whole process a lot easier. The tip isn’t your typical lipstick shaped tip. It is smaller and rounder, which helps apply the lipstick evenly through the lips, allowing you to reach the corners and small areas.

As I applied these products, I noticed how creamy they felt. I can only describe them as similar to butter haha, soft and creamy. My lips felt great! While Lacque and Roll maintains it’s creamy consistency, She’s So Matte tends to dry out, I guess because it has a matte finish. Besides their creaminess, these lipsticks are very pigmented. It was amazing to notice how strong their color was as I applied them. Moreover, their pigmentation lasts a long, long, long time. Even while drinking and eating food they didn’t fade out. To kind of let you have an idea of their long lasting quality, I wore Lacque and Roll the other night to the movies. Even after eating popcorn and then washing my face before going to sleep, the next day when I woke up I could still notice my lips slightly pink.

Well, that was my review :) Let me know what you think! Have you tried these lipsticks? Which L’Oreal lipstick is your favorite? Or, in general, which is your favorite lipstick?

First Impression: Sephora Collection Rouge Shine and Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil

Ever since I can remember, my mom has always worn any type, any shade, of red lipstick. I can’t think of red lipsticks without remembering of my mom. I’ve always thought she looks great with it, elegant, feminine, and strong. However, not everyone is as quick to rock red lips. Personally, sometimes I feel intimidated by them. Red is bold and calls attention, and I think you have to have the confidence to walk around with it and make it look seamless. Nonetheless, I decided to not think twice about it and just try it out. I got these two red lipsticks from Sephora: Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella and Sephora Collection Rouge Shine.

Sephora Collection Rouge Shine

I’ve been a huge fan of Sephora as a store for a while, but have never really gotten the chance to try their own range of makeup products. So, when I saw this lipstick, I thought it would be a great opportunity to test their products out. The first thing I noticed was the lipstick’s color. It’s a dark intense red, but when you try it out it’s more like a strawberry red/pink. I think the color is very pretty and suitable for any occasion, whether it’s to add a pop of color to a daytime look or to intensify a darker nighttime look. The second thing I noticed was the scent. This lipstick smells like chemicals. I didn’t really like the scent, but it wasn’t that strong and it didn’t bother me that much. Nonetheless, it’s quite noticeable.

One thing I thought was a great quality is that it’s very pigmented. It’s not necessary to apply various coats of lipstick, as with one coat I thought was enough. The color is very intense and doesn’t fade easily. It has a nice glossy finish, which makes the lips look fuller and brighter. As for consistency, this lipstick is creamy and soft, very easy to blend.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella

Being an avid reader of beauty reviews, Nars is a makeup brand that I’ve always wanted to try out since I’ve read so many good things about some of their products. Taking that as an excuse, I decided to get this lip pencil haha. This product’s color is an intense red, with less pink undertone than the one from Sephora. I would describe it as a classic red lipstick. Once applied to the lips, the color doesn’t change. It’s true to the product’s color, if that makes sense. Although this is marketed as a lip pencil, I think consistency wise it’s more like a lipstick. It’s very creamy and moisturizing. I was much attracted to it’s matte finish. I love matte lipsticks and I’ve enjoyed using this one. As well as the Sephora Collection Rouge Shine, Nars’ Lip Pencil is very pigmented and long lasting. Finally, something that I liked, but maybe it’s not that big of a deal, was it’s size. Although I tend to think that when it comes to makeup products, the more, the better, this one is smaller compared to other lipsticks. However, I thought it’s size was great to carry it in your purse and even in your pocket on day when you just don’t want wear any bags.

Have you tried these products? Which lipsticks do you like? Do you often wear red lipsticks?

I hope you enjoy this review! Let me know what you think :)
