Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser Review

What is the thing that makes you start your day off with the right mood? For me it’s a good cup of coffee and music. I love listening to music while taking a shower. Not only I get to sing like if I was the next Mariah Carey, but it has actually helped me become more conscious of the amount of time I spend washing my hair. For example, an average song can last about 4 minutes, so while I listen to a song I let the hair products get absorbed by my hair and scalp, maximizing the effect of all the nutrients and oils contained in the shampoo and conditioner. Then, as I wait for the song to be over, I wash my face and body, and brush my teeth (see, no time is wasted here haha). Today, while I was doing this routine, I was thinking about how if I don’t wash my face or brush my teeth I feel dirty even though I already took a shower. Does this happen to you too? So, realizing that facial cleansers are so important to me haha, I decided to share the one that I have been loving lately.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser:

This facial cleanser is my most precious one (I feel I sounded like Gollum haha). First off, because it’s the most expensive, and secondly, because it’s the most gentle with my skin. This cleanser doesn’t have a soap-like consistency, It doesn’t make bubbles or anything similar, but don’t underestimate it’s cleansing power because of that. After washing my face with the cleanser, it feels super soft but a bit dry. According to the product, it can be used for normal to oily skin type, but personally, I think oily skin types can benefit more from the reduction of excess oil. If you have normal or dry skin, I recommend applying a facial cream afterwards just to hydrate it. There is no need to apply a big amount of product. I noticed that for me with just a little bit for the forehead, each cheek, nose, and chin is enough. I like to dump my face with water, apply the product, and then massage my face with the pulps of my fingers, specially on my T zone. This cleanser is great if you are not wearing any makeup. I found that it doesn’t remove it that well. You might need to use some wipes to remove all the makeup before and then use this product. Overall, I did noticed less oil on my T zone, at least it took more time throughout the day for my face to look shiny or feel greasy. Personally, I don’t use this facial cleanser regularly because it can make my skin dry. I like to use it every two days and only in the morning.

Hope you enjoy this review! Have your tried this product yet?

Braided Updo

To be honest, I don’t have the best skills when it comes to doing my hair. I usually keep things simple like letting my hair down or clipping a piece to the side. After discovering a lot of hair tutorials through blogs, Pinterest, or YouTube, I’ve gathered up the courage to try different hairstyles. It has been fun experimenting with my hair, but I’m still just a beginner haha. It can be frustrating at times, but practicing does help. Without further ado, I present to you this easy braided updo inspired by this picture I found on Pinterest. I hope you enjoy it!

Step 1: Separate your hair into three equal parts. Start doing a french braid to one of the pieces on the sides, either the right one or left one. Remember to maintain the direction of the braid a bit towards the central hair piece, towards the back of your head kind of. Continue the french braid up to the lower part of your ear (the ear lobe), then switch to the normal braid technic until you finish. Secure your braid with an elastic band. Repeat this process to the hair strand on the opposite side, either the left one (if you started with the right one) or the right one (if your started with the left one).

Step 2: Once you have done the braids, twist the central hair strand into a bun and secure it with hair pins. Because I have a lot of hair, I used four hairpins.

Step 3: Grab one of the braids and twist it around the bun, passing first under the bun and the around. Secure its correct position with hair pins. I used about four hairpins. Do the same with the other braid. Remember that it has to pass under the bun first, then you fold it around the bun.

Step 4: You can use hairspray to secure the updo.

Recent Purchases: Massimo Dutti, Forever 21, Pull & Bear, Material Girl

Hi guys, hope you are having a good weekend! I was thinking on what to write today and decided to share my recent clothing acquisitions haha. To best show you how they look when worn, I came up with two outfits. Hope you enjoy this post!! Be sure to let me know what you think :)

Forever 21 Knit Top in Blue and Grey and Material Girl Brown Sandals:

I think this is a basic top that can go well with everything, from a casual look to maybe a more dressed up going-to-work kind of look. I was thinking that with a black blazer, black trousers, and black heels you can achieve that more dressed up look. I came up with a casual outfit, which is actually the one I wore today. It’s very simple and it can be worn for going to classes or to lunch with your friends. I love the fabric, it’s soft to the skin and light. I also like the combination of that blue tone with the grey color. I paired this top with dark blue jeans and my not so new Material Girl flat sandals. These sandals I bought during Christmas at Macy’s, but I hadn’t had the chance to wear them until today. Macy’s has great discounts, definitely recommend to take a look around when they are on sales, specially the shoes section. I found that these sandals were a bit big. When walking my toes hurt because they rub against the zipper part of the sandal, but besides that minor issue, I think they look great. They have that bohemian summery vibe.

Massimo Dutti Green Blouse and Pull & Bear Black Booties:

The other day I had to go to the mall to do some errands and while I was there I thought of checking out what was new at Massimo Dutti. I found this green blouse that has a leaf print fabric. I thought the shape was nice, specially the two front pockets. Besides that, the fabric is soft and a bit sheer, perfect for summer and warm weather. I don’t have much clothing of this color so I had to give it a go. I paired this blouse with dark grey jeans and my new Pull & Bear booties. It’s another casual outfit but you can pull a more dressed up look with this blouse. I’m thinking on white trousers and nude heels would look great. I’m always on the lookout for booties because I think I’m a bit picky when it comes to these types of shoes. I found this black faux suede ankle boots but wasn’t too sure about them until I tried them on. They are very comfortable and have a small heel. They look simple which makes it easy to combined with any clothing. They have a nice little zipper on the back that did’t hurt my ankle the first time I wore them.

Dolce & Gabbana Woman’s Winter 2016 Fashion Show

As I was looking through the internet, I came across a backstage photo of Gigi Hadid wearing a flower crown/headband for the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show. I loved how she looked and was immediately intrigued into finding more about that show. The main theme of their show was the role that a mother plays within the family nucleus and society itself. I think it’s a great idea and kind of refreshing to see that in a fashion show motherhood is being celebrated, specially nowadays that woman seek independence and, sometimes I feel, they draw further away from the role of being a mom. What I interpret from the show was the message that the ideal woman, that independent, driven, powerful female can also be delicate and sweet like a rose. She can be an entrepreneur but also a mother and a caregiver.

Makeup:
The makeup was simple and feminine: soft brown eyeshadow shades, with a small winged eyeline. For the lips, they chose feminine and sweet tones ranging from light pink, rose, and red.

The hair:
Most models, if not all, wore their hair in a simple, delicate bun. They accessorized it with flower crowns or flower shaped hair pins.

The clothes:
I loved the dresses! They were made to look super feminine and delicate using lace fabrics and rose flower prints. Some dresses were fitted to show the curves of a women’s body, but other were more lose. You can find dresses above the knee length or longer, which I felt it was a statement, kind of like saying a woman can be both sexy and elegant. Most dresses were black or white, all with roses printed on the fabric, portraying the idea that a woman, a mother, is associated with nature, kindness and delicacy.

Here are some pictures of the show:
