Hair Product Review: Davines’ Alchemic Conditioner For Natural and Colored Hair

After looking back at some old posts, I realized that I haven’t done more reviews on hair products, so I decided to update you on my latest findings!

My mom is always on the lookout for new hair products because she tends to have dry hair and claims that not all products work on her. Consequently, it’s not unusual to find her buying shampoos or conditioners of brands that aren’t sold in the supermarket. The truth is that I don’t know where she finds all this stuff, but I can’t complain because she has found plenty of good products which I have taken advantage of haha. Last year she found this hair conditioner specialized for red hair: Davines’ Alchemic Conditioner For Natural and Colored Hair in red.

The conditioner comes in a glass container which allows you to get a glimpse of how the product looks like. It is decorated by a pink and yellow polka dot sticker that contains all the information about the product. I really liked it’s packaging! It looks like it’s a homemade product, like an organic product, or something you would find at your town’s organic market.

When you open the jar, you’ll notice that the product is bright fuchsia. At first, I was kind of scared that my hair would end up colored in that tone haha, but to my relief it didn’t. Don’t worry if, after applying the product, your hands get stained or after drying your hair with a towel, it gets stained as well. The product goes away easily with soap and water.

The conditioner smells great! It reminded me of the scent from henna hair products. It’s consistency is really soft and creamy. The one problem I encountered was that you have to let it sit for 5-8 minutes before rinsing your hair, which if you are in a hurry those 5-8 minutes may seem like forever. However, I think it’s important to let your hair and scalp absorb all the nutrients. Because of that, I don’t use this product daily, but maybe once or twice a week.

To be honest, I’ve never really believed in products that are made for a specific hair color. I just thought it was a marketing stunt, or something like that, to get the attention of costumers. However, after a year or so of using this conditioner, I’ve noticed that my hair looks more shiny and healthy, and feels super soft. I don’t really know if it’s because it contains ingredients that work best on red hair or if in general the ingredients are really good despite the hair color. If you go onto their website, there are a range of products for different hair colors, not just red, blond, brunette, and black, which I thought was great and refreshing.

Overall, I really liked this product. I thought it was something different from other hair products. My hair felt healthier and stronger, and to the touch, it felt silky and soft. I saw no change in it’s color, no lightening or darkening, if that is what you were looking for. It can be a perfect conditioner to use when taking a day to pamper yourself or to use during the weekend, when you have more time to spend washing your hair. I definitely recommend it!

Hope you enjoy this review! Have you used any product from this brand?
