Makeup Review: Makeup Store, Essence, NYX Lipsticks

Last week I did some changes on the blog! I had been thinking for a while on getting a new blog template. At first, I wanted to learn how to do one, but the truth is that it would take me a long, long, long time to learn and understand all the codes and programming necessary for creating a descent template. After doing some research I found the template that I currently have. I think it’s easy on the eye, it’s simple, sort of minimal, and pretty (at least for me haha). However, I’ve been having a bit of trouble reinstalling Disqus for the comments section. Thus, all the comments that were on the blog before the makeover are gone. I’m trying to fix this :) If you know how to, please let me know haha, I would really appreciate all the help haha!

For this week’s blog post, I decided to write a little review on some of the most recent lipsticks that I’ve acquired. The truth is that I don’t own that many lipsticks. Usually, I’ll just get lip balms and chapsticks instead haha. However, after seeing a lot of girls wearing plum or red lips, I thought of giving it a go and adding a bit of color to my everyday look. I hope you enjoy reading this post!

Makeup Store: Cherry Pie and Pretty Baby Lipstick

From top to bottom: Pretty Baby and Cherry Pie

I’ve noticed many makeup looks with matt lips lately, so I went in the search for a pretty matt lipstick. Instead, I found myself at the Makeup Store looking into the glossy lipsticks section haha. The reason was because I found a lipstick that called my attention, Cherry Pie. It’s a copper colored lipstick that I hadn’t seen before. It has a bit of shimmer that adds some spark to the whole makeup look. Moreover, it’s creamy and soft to the lips. The lady that helped me in the store told me that products on the Sparkling Lipstick section were very pigmented and she was right.

Pretty Baby is, as the name says it, a matt baby pink lipstick. At first I was skeptical of getting this lipstick, but my mom encourage me to try it out haha. It’s something different form my usual picks. It’s really bright, which can be perfect for summer. Similar to Cherry Pie, this lipstick is creamy, moisturizing, and very pigmented. Both last a long time before fading a bit.

Essence: XXXL Longlasting Lipgloss in Soft Nude, and Lipliners in Red Blush and Soft Berry

I hadn’t tried Essence before and I was very excited when I found it. The first thing that called my attention was the easy on the wallet prices. Makeup can be expensive at times and it’s always great to find budget friendly products of great quality. It was pretty hard not to get everything, so I had to choose wisely. My first picks were the two lipliners. I haven’t used lipliners before, partly because I’m a bit lazy and prefer to just put on the lipstick. However, after watching makeup tutorials, lipliners can be of great help, specially when using dark colors like red and plum. Thus, I chose Red Blush and Soft Berry. Recently, I watched one of Pixiwoo’s makeup tutorials and one of the girls said that if you want a matt lip, using a lipliner to fill your lips is the best way to get a matt look, so I wanted to try this trick. These lipliners are creamy and very pigmented. You don’t need to apply too much of the product, with just one coat it’s enough. Also, I loved the super matt finish that I got when using them.

As I was going through the products of Essence, I found this pretty nude lipgloss. I hadn’t tried matt lip glosses before because I thought it would be hard to get a matt finished using a lipGLOSS, haha …I was mistaken, it does have a matt finish. This product is true to it’s color, it doesn’t fade or loses pigmentation when you put it on, as many lipgloss do. The applicator is soft and flexible, which makes it easy to outline your lips first and then fill them in. Also, it smells great! It has a vanilla scent. Finally, it doesn’t really dry out, so be careful when drinking water or eating since it tends to fade out.

NYX: Soft Matt Lip Cream in Antwerp

Last but not least, only good words I can write about NYX’s matt lip gloss. Fist off, I love this product’s color. It’s a dark pink tone, maybe a rose color. Another product that I thought would be great for summer. When applied, it’s soft and glossy. Within a few minutes it dries, almost to the point that you don’t feel like you are wearing anything on the lips, but it maintains it’s pigmentation. It’s long lasting, which is something that I’m always looking in makeup products. It’s container size is perfect for carrying it on your purse.

Have you tried out any of these products? Which lipstick do you recommend?
