New Purchases: Essence Cosmetics

A few posts ago, I told you guys about my latest findings: Essence Cosmetics. Not only was I amazed by their affordable prices, but also by their great quality. I’ve tried their lipliners and one of their matte lipgloss, which I was pleased with both products. After a while, I decided to stop by their store to get a few more things that I needed. While they had run out of highlighter (bummer), I did find a powder and two blushes (yey!).

Mattifying Compact Powder in Soft Beige

Finding the right tone of foundation and powder can be tricky, specially if you have super tanned arms, and fair neck and face, like me haha. I’ve even begun considering fake tanning just to get an even skin tone all over my body. Anyway, I had bought the Bourjois Bio Detox Organic Perfecting Powder in the shade Dark Beige, but I think it’s a bit too dark for me nowadays. Consequently, I was looking for a new lighter powder. This powder from Essence has been great. It does help achieve a matte finish, but not too matte that your skin will look cakey. It’s very easy to blend and spread all over the face. As for the duration, my face has maintained oil free for quite a long time, but I do like to keep it in my purse just in case I need to reapply some more.

Silky Touch Blush in Natural Beauty and Kissable

To be honest, I’m not such a big fan of blush mainly because I tend to get red faced quite easily. However, I decided to give it a try. Also, they looked so pretty that I had to get them :P Natural Beauty was my first pick. I was drawn to this product because of it’s color, a rose pink with brown undertone. Kissable, on the other hand, is a dark rose pink. Both are shimmery products which I think add a spark and brightness to the makeup look. I have yet to try Kissable. I recently used Natural Beauty in my last YouTube video and it was great. As it’s name says, this product is very natural looking, a subtile blush. It was easy to apply and blend with the bronzer. I can’t wait to try the other blush! I’ll let you know my experience as soon as I use it.

Thanks for reading this review! Have you tried these products?? Which are your favorite? What Essence Cosmetic’s product do you recommend?

Tartelette Palette Review

I’ve been wanting to write this review for a long, long, long time, and finally, the moment has arrived. The Tartelette Palette has become a product on high demand, quite popular, and, to be honest, I get why it has been a huge success. What drew my attention were the lovely neutral eyeshadows, those earthy tones that were chosen to form this palette. I might be conservative, or, as I like to think, classical, but I love and most often use such shades of eyeshadows. Thus, I immediately picked up one box from the stand in Sephora. As I was purchasing the product, the lady that was helping me gushed that that palette was great and that it’s not often that you get to have an all matte eyeshadow palette. Now that I look back, she was right. Usually, at the drugstore or supermarket, brands like Maybelline or L’Oreal sell quads, trios, or duos most often of only shimmery eyeshadows. Also, as I’ve been doing more and more makeup looks, I find myself reaching for matte eyeshadows more frequently than before. I’ve realized that these products are quite useful for any look, whether an all matte makeup look or combined with shimmery eyeshadows. So, yes, in that sense, as the lady said, it’s a great acquisition to own an a palette like this one.

Besides containing only matte eyeshadows, what has also stood out is the product’s great quality. These eyeshadows are very pigmented and true to it’s color. It hasn’t been necessary to build up the product in order to achieve intensity. With just dabbing the brush against the eyeshadow a few times, it’s enough to get a good finish. These eyeshadows are easy to apply and to blend. Moreover, they last quite a long time without fading or falling, which is something that I look for in any makeup product. I’ve used this palette for nighttime looks and the makeup has stayed in place throughout the night.

Finally, I just wanted to say that if you have been considering getting the Tartelette Palette, I would definitely recommend you to do so. This was my first time trying a product from Tarte, and it has been great, which now I’m even more curious to try other products from this brand (my wallet is going to hate me haha).

Have you tried this palette? What has been your experience with this product or any Tarte Product?? What Tarte products do you recommend?

P.S: Here is a makeup tutorial using this palette :)

Going To Dinner Makeup and Outfit

It’s not that often that I get to dress up and do my whole makeup. Most of the times I would say I can manage to go through the day, and even night, with just a CC cream, mascara, and a lipstick, and that’s it. How about you? What’s your daily makeup situation like?? However, after constantly watching makeup tutorials on YouTube, within me has grown this desire to experiment with makeup. Thus, lately I’ve been trying to take any event as an opportunity to try out new technics, looks, products, you name it haha. So, a few days ago, I went to dinner with my family and sort of attempted to create a soft makeup look using the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I took some photos to share the look with you :) I hope you enjoy this tutorial!

  1. I began with my foundation because I knew that I was going to use soft and light colored eyeshadows. Thus, any fallout would not be as catastrophic as if it were of a darker eyeshadow, like black or brown. I applied the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation in the shade 125.
  2. Next, I applied a bit of concealer under my eyes, nose, and any area that needed more coverage, like break outs or reddish skin patches. I used The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Concealer in the shade 02.
  3. Personally, I prefer a matte face than a dewy one, so I placed all over my face the Bourjois Bio Detox Organic Perfecting Powder in the shade Dark Beige.
  4. For bronzing and highlighting, I used L’Oreal Glam Bronze, which comes with two shades: a darker one, that I use as bronzer, and a lighter one for highlighting. I applied the lighter tone everywhere I placed my concealer.
  5. After I finished my face, I headed for the eyes. I used MAC Prep + Prime Eye in the shade Light as an eyeshadow base. This was necessary because my eyes tend to not keep hold of the eyeshadows. Does this happen to you, too? An eye primer allows my makeup to last longer.
  6. With a fluffy brush, I placed the bronzer that I used previously onto my crease. I blended it very well, from side to side.
  7. Next, I happily opened my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette and applied Buzz on my upper eyelid. Then, with a fluffy brush I blended this eyeshadow with the one on the crease, just to there are no harsh lines.
  8. To add depth to my eyes, I placed Mugshot from the same palette onto the outer corner of my eye. I really liked this color, it’s a shimmery dark brown/greyish eyeshadow. Then, with a fluffy brush, I blended everything well, always trying to maintain a sort of cat eye shape (if that makes sense haha).
  9. For the finishing touches, I used the Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black to add volume to my eyelashes, and NYX Super Skinny Eye Marker in Black to line my eyes.
  10. Last, but not least, I applied MAC Pro Longwear Lipstick in Till Tomorrow, which I think it’s a nude color.

To be honest, that day I was a bit lazy clothing-wise and didn’t want to go all fancy to dinner. Instead, I opted for a feminine, occasion appropriate, yet semi casual outfit. In my attempt to try different styles, I wore this black top from Forever 21 tucked underneath a loose skirt from Zara. I really like the white leaf print on the top’s fabric. Also, it’s very soft and sort of shiny. The top is actually quite long. I’ve used it with leggings and boots before. As for the skirt, it’s a bit old, but one of my favorites. It’s high waited and loose, which gives that hour glass body shape. Because it was a cold night, I wore black tights from Forever 21 and knee high boots from Nine West.

I hope you enjoyed this post :) Let me know what you think! What is your favorite makeup look when going to dinner? What’s your everyday makeup?
