Morning Dress Up Event: Makeup and Outfit.

Even though you will probably find me wearing comfy clothes like jeans (or pajamas haha), I think that, once in a while, getting the chance to dress up is fun. Not so long ago, I had a morning event which was a bit formal. To be honest, I tend to be clueless as to what to wear in  which occasion, but as my parents say, it’s best to be overdress than dress-down. Thus, I went for a more dressed up look. I took some photos to show you the complete makeup and outfit :) I hope you enjoy it!

Outfit:

The event took place in the morning, around 9 am. Since it was an early sort of cocktail party, I took it as a chance to wear a short dress. I chose this white dress with black feathers from H&M. The fabric is quite soft and sheer, which I think made it perfect for such event. It’s loose fitted, but stills gives you a nice body silhouette. Another way I thought you could wear this dress is with a belt. This way, since it isn’t skintight, it can help accentuate your curves. Also, a belt would be a nice touch to the look. The dress cost around $30, which I thought it was cheap for what it looked and felt like.

To add a pop of color and fun to the dress, I wore these pretty heels from DKNY. I love that they have bright fluorescent yellow and light blue straps combined with nude ones. A great thing about these heels is it’s height. Their medium height made it easy for me to walk in them without my feet hurting.

Makeup:

For this look, at first I thought on going for something more natural and discrete, but then changed my mind because why not try something out of the usual? In the photos, it looks like I’m wearing a purple eyeshadow, but the truth is that I wasn’t. I don’t know why it ended up looking like that in the picture, maybe the lighting haha.

Steps:

Eyes:

  1. Since this makeup was for a special occasion, I wanted it to stay put for a long time. Thus, I began by applying MAC Prep + Prime Eye Primer in the shade Light. I’ve been using this product for a long time and it hasn’t failed me once. It helps not only by preventing any fallouts, but also by enhancing the eyeshadows pigmentation.
  2. With a fluffy brush I applied eyeshadow #1 (matte light beige eyeshadow) from the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette all over the crease, sweeping the brush from side to side in windshield whipper motion.
  3. Next, with a flat brush I mixed eyeshadows #2 (shimmery pink and shimmery light silver eyeshadows) and placed them onto the upper eyelid. Using a fluffy brush I blended these eyeshadow with the one on the crease to prevent harsh lines.
  4. To darken up this look a bit, I applied eyeshadow #3 (shimmery dark brown eyeshadow) onto the outer half of the lid. With a fluffy brush I blended everything well.
  5. With a small pencil brush, I applied eyeshadow #4 onto the innermost part of the crease to create depth. Again, with the same fluffy brush I blended it well to avoid harsh lines.
  6. I drew a small wing liner with Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner in the color Blackest Black. It was nothing too dramatic because I was trying to make it daytime appropriate.
  7. Finally, to add volume to my eyelashes, I applied MAC Opulash Optimum Black Mascara.

Face:

  1. Before applying my foundation, I cleaned up any eyeshadow fallout.
  2. Next, I applied Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation in the shade 125. This foundation does match my neck’s skin tone, but I think in the photo it looks different.
  3. To tone down any redness, I used The Body Shop Tea Tree Concealer in the shade 02. Usually I place it under my eyes, the middle of my nose, forehead, and cupid’s bow.
  4. Powdering my face helps my makeup last longer, without getting my T zone greasy easily. I use Essence Cosmetics Mattifying Compact Powder in the color Soft Beige.
  5. To add some definition and color to my face, I used L’Oreal Glam Bronze in Blond Harmony under my cheek bones, sides of my nose, and outline of my forehead. This bronzer is very subtle and soft.
  6. Finally, I used Essence Cosmetics Silky Touch Blush in the shade Natural Beauty on the apples of my cheeks.

Lips:

  1. Last but not least, I used Buxom Two of A Kind Lipstick in the shade Hooligan, which is a nice rose pink color. I chose this color because it blended well with the whole makeup look, without overpowering the eyes.

Tell me, what is your go to look for a morning dress up event??
